Squirrels and birds treat the space under a solar array as shelter. Nests pile up debris, and chewed wiring turns a quiet problem into a real repair. We install mesh guard sized to your array, repair damaged guard, and inspect the wiring while we are up there.
Small animals, expensive damage
The gap between your panels and the roof is shaded, dry, and protected. To a squirrel it is perfect. To your system it is a liability.
Nesting under the array
Squirrels, pigeons, and other birds move in beneath panels, especially on roofs near trees. Once a nest is established, the animals defend it and come back season after season.
Chewed wiring
Rodents chew the insulation on module and string wiring. Exposed conductors can fault, knock production offline, and create an arc hazard nobody wants on their roof.
Debris buildup
Nesting material and leaves trap moisture against the shingles, block airflow under the modules, and shorten the life of the roof your array sits on.
Guard installed right, or repaired right
Critter guard only works when it is sized, cut, and fastened to your specific array. We measure the perimeter, fit the mesh, and secure it with clips made for solar racking. No drilling, no shortcuts.

Parts, permits, engineering, roof repairs, replacement equipment, storm damage, and manufacturer charges are not included unless separately approved.

Critter guard questions
Do Florida solar arrays really need critter guard?
Not every array, but far more than most homeowners expect. The space under an array is shaded, dry, and protected, which makes it prime nesting territory for squirrels and birds, especially on roofs near trees. Nests trap debris against the roof and chewed wiring can fault or become an arc hazard. If you have ever heard scratching overhead or seen birds slipping under the panels, the animals are already there.
Will installing critter guard damage my panels or roof?
No. The mesh fastens to the module frames with clips made for solar racking. Nothing is drilled into the panels or the roof, and the guard is cut to follow the perimeter of your specific array so it seals cleanly without stressing the modules.
Can you repair critter guard on a system AllSolar did not install?
Yes. We service systems we did not install, and that includes guard another company put on. We inspect the existing guard, replace damaged or sagging sections, and check the wiring underneath for chew damage while we are up there.
